What… you want to know pointless running info about me?? ok…

So Nicole over at Running for Love came up with a little running survey and I thought it would be fun to repost on my blog with MY answers lol… Sidenote:  Nicole is also planning a wedding for this year!  AWESOME!! :D

* what is your favorite type of cross training?
I haven’t really been cross training… whoops… Does working on my feet and carrying two,
5 gallon buckets of ice to the pop machine while doing bicep curls count?

* what is your favorite song to run to?
I don't really have one favorite song and I tend to listen to all sorts of different genres of music while I run from classical to hard rock lol.. just depends on my mood and what type of run it is

* what brand of shoes do you wear?
Nike Lunar Glides or Brooks Pure Flow

* do you wear a hat when you run?
Usually yes

* what temperature is your favorite for running?
I hate cold weather so I would say anywhere from 60-80 lol… yeah, I’m crazy ;)

* do you have any big races coming up?
I have multiple little 5ks, my 2nd half marathon on May 7th (this weekend), and my first full marathon on October 16th! :)

* what is your favorite distance?
to just run… 5 miles… to race… half marathon

* are you a morning, noon or evening runner?
I am not a morning person so running in the morning is difficult for me… i like noon or evening TONS better!

* do you run solo or with a buddy?
I tend to run by myself… every once in a blue moon you’ll read on my blog that I ran with someone… which is also fun… but I find it hard to coordinate schedules so tend to be a lone runner

* what's your favorite post run snack?
Chocolate milk blended with peanut butter, a banana, honey, cinnamon, carnation drink (added nutrients), and ice while I sit in an ice bath while eating a bagel

It is sad, but I had to use white milk in this
picture cuz I had run out of chocolate milk

* what's your FAVORITE race?
My absolute FAVORITE race so far has been my first ever half marathon!! I just loved the whole experience from traveling to a different state, to spending the weekend with just my parents, and running an all women’s race as my first half! :D  HERE’s the recap!

* do you wear a garmin? If not how do you track your runs?
yes, my fiancé got me the forerunner 405cx for Christmas (I LOVE it!!) before that I used a nike+ sensor with my ipod

* what is your least favorite race?
I don't really have a least favorite as of right now… I’ll get back to you on that ;)

* what race is your favorite medal from?
My first half marathon!  there was a medallion in the middle of the music note shaped medal (Nashville, Tennessee) that you could take off and put on a necklace

* who is your running idol?
I don't really have one, but I'm really starting to like Kara :)

* how long have you been a runner?
years that I’m counting… 1 :)  (not counting HS track)

* (ladies) do you run with your engagement/wedding ring on?
no way!  I am often times a klutz and just know that something would happen to my engagement ring before the wedding if I would wear it to run in or exercise in… not chancing it!

Wedding Update: My Dress!!

ok.. first things first, why didn’t anyone tell me I was getting ahead of myself on Tuesday?! lol… I titled my post “Triple Tangent Thursday” lol… well… today is Thursday.. bummer… but it’s almost the weekend!! :)  Also, welcome to my newest bloggy friend.. Angie from Kansas Runner!! Thanks for following! :)

Now.. on to the wedding stuff!!!  Pretend like it’s December 17th ;)  CUZ that’s when I bought my dress!!! :)

I’m not one of those girls who has known from an early age what kind of wedding dress I wanted or what kind of wedding… Dont get me wrong… I daydreamed about getting married one day, but I never planned the details of a future wedding….  Not to mention that I’m not a very girly girl… I’ll wear the occasional dress, but usually you’ll find me in jeans or running shorts and a tshirt lol…

So, my mom and I decided to start out looking in our little town (which has 2 places that might have wedding dresses… 1 for sure) before we headed to the big city.  Neither of us knew what to expect but were looking forward to the big adventure!

When we arrived, we had to sign in and they took us back to a little sitting area to ask questions like “what’s your budget?”  “What kind of a dress do you want?”  “Do you have anything specific in mind?”  I told them the budget that I definitely didn’t want to go over and other than that, that I had no clue what I was looking for… just that I didn’t want a ridiculously long train.

After that we went through and picked out different styles of dresses that I liked so I could try them on… we had all sorts of things like Ball gowns and A-lines and Mermaid dresses… who knew there would be so many to choose from? ;)  Well I tried on the first one and absolutely LOVED it!!  But, I had about 8 more dresses to try on.  Every time I tried on a different dress we would compare it to the first… if I liked it less we put it back, if we liked it about the same or more we kept it in the fitting room.

After a while I kind of forgot what the first one looked like on me and we were down to the last two dresses which were a different style than the first one all together and I liked them both. They were over my budget by $100-200 but I had told her that was ok, if it was the one for me I would pay the extra mulah!! :)  I really liked the last one the best but forgot what the first one looked like so I tried the first dress on again…

As soon as I put it back on I started tearing up… this was THE ONE!!  I didn’t want to take it off, I was so thrilled!!  I never knew what it would feel like finding “the dress” but it was magical!  It was incredible!  I just knew it was the one! haha.. my mom joked with me that she had been looking forward to going to more than just one dress shop… but since we were both shedding happy tears we knew there was no need to continue searching!

DSC00795This is the only picture I can show you because I have no clue if my fiancé
peeks at my blog every once in a while lol ;)  sneak peak!!!

After I committed to buying it they put a veil on my head and we took pictures and talked about wedding stuff… eventually they made me take it off ;) lol… I ordered my dress.. paid in full because if I did they would give me a discount… booyah!!   I was told it would be in towards the middle/end of May… hopefully I don’t need too many alterations!  I’m just so excited!!!  Now I just need to accessorize!! ;)

Pardon The Interruption…

I had a post started earlier and was going to explain all the fun stuff that I have planned for the month of December but then something completely MORE fun and MUCH more important happened today!!!

I GOT ENGAGED!!!! :D

I am so happy right now!  I feel like I’m living a dream!!!
My boyfriend of a little more than 3 1/2 years asked me to marry him today
and of course I said YES!!!

Here’s the short version without all the tiny details lol…

My boyfriend had class today and wanted to know if I wanted to go running after he got out around 1:30.  Of course, I said I would LOVE to (duh.. run?!) but ended up having to go to work!  Well, I ended up leaving work early and I met Joshuah to go running afterall!  I was so excited because we never get to spend time like that together anymore!

It was freezing out of course so we were all bundled up and Josh suggested we just walk a little bit to warm up before we took off running, so I grabbed his hand and we started walking… We talked about the bike path being kinda like life and how you run into different people and different things a long the way, things like that and then we came to the covered bridge that holds a soft spot in each of our hearts, and decided to go in, out of the wind to reminisce a little bit and he told me he had learned a new magic trick (being silly as always)…

9993e25b8db0__1291332801000f5f230b8cd27__1291320854000

So I closed my eyes and told him it better not be the tickle monster and he told me it wasn’t lol…  Then he told me I could open my eyes and turn around. Needless to say we never ended up running lol…

I’m pretty sure I had no clue it was coming!  I was so surprised!!  I didn’t even look at the ring! lol… I covered my mouth and shook my head yes as I cried happy tears and I managed to squeak out a verbal “yes” as I sat on his knee and hugged him for dear life!  I am the happiest girl alive right now!!  I can’t stop smiling! :D

We don’t have a date set yet as we haven’t really talked about it much yet.  We both have some college left (about 2 years each) so we’ll see…

All I can say is, that was the BEST “run” of my life!!! ;)
