the total of last month, I would still be averaging about 12 miles a month right now…
I took a lot… A LOT… of rest days to try to rest up and heal my knee because my
main goal is to rid myself of my knee pain  - GOOD SO FAR

GOAL #2:  Graduate in May and land at least a part time interpreting job by June!

~I graduated May 10th!! :)  I signed up with an agency and had my first assignment
the last week of June!! :)  for all intents and purposed I’ve 100% accomplished
this goal!! I’m still looking to sign on as a contract interpreter with more agencies
                  though!! :)  - ACCOMPLISHED!! 100% COMPLETE!

Graduation – May 10, 2013

It’s been a week since I graduated from the Interpreting Education Program!  The 2 years and 2 quarters that I was in the program just flew by!  2 years of great teachers, hard work, tears, laughter, a lot of stress and a lot of lessons learned... I am finally an interpreter graduate!! I am so excited for this next chapter in my life and cannot thank my teachers or my peers enough for encouraging me and believing in me!!

Three Things Thursday: RRR, Unexpected Job Offer, and Graduation … Oh My!!

1.  You still have time to linkup your race recaps from this week on the Race Recap Roundup.  Reminder:  the linkup will be reset every Monday! :)

Race Recap Roundup on Runners Luck

2.  Yesterday I got a long-term sub offer for all of May and it was exactly what I needed but wasn’t expecting at all!  It may even turn into a job for all of next school year too, but right now I am taking one day at a time!  With graduation coming up in 8 days, this is one less thing to stress about!! God is so good and knows exactly what we need and when we need it!  I am so blessed! :)

3.  Speaking of graduation…  Right now, I am at my last day of my internship and my last day of actual class!  (I wrote this last night before bed!)  ;)  I have one final project next week, but I’m not counting that!  I honestly just can’t believe I am graduating from the American Sign Language Interpreting program already!! Remember when I was all excited because I was starting the program? ;)  *squee!!*  Lots of exciting things going on!!

3b.  I will confess that with all the excitement/stress of graduation being soon, I have not
been keeping up on my working out or my leg & hip exercises the past week… whoops!

I hope you all have a great day and find something to be thankful for! :)

Tuesday Tidbits - April 2, 2013

This is going to be a bullet point list because I feel like I’m not writing as much that way and my grammar can be awful, but it doesn’t matter with a list! ;)

- If you’ll notice up in the right hand side of my blog, I’ve added a countdown to… [duh, duh, duhhh] … GRADUATION!!!  As of now, I have 37 days 21 hours 48 minutes and 15 seconds (that will definitely be less time by the time you all are reading this post!)

- That works out to about 10 more days of class, 8 more days of my internship (same days as classes), 20-30 hours of driving, 2 more big projects, 5 articles to read, 3 more quizzes, 8 more homework assignments, and lots of procrastination before I become a professional adult ;)

- I also added a “Giveaways” Button to my sidebar instead of listing out the giveaways right there on my sidebar because blogger’s link list app-y thing-y majig is not working… no big surprise that blogger isn’t working… right?! ;)  I should so switch to wordpress… I just don’t have the time or knowledge to do so right now…

- This week is spring break (as I mentioned in my weekly roundup) for the school I’ve been doing my interpreting practicum at.. which means I have class on tuesday and thursday from 4:30 – 7:20pm and maybe sub/work 2 days at the end of the week (county schools are on spring break til Wednesday) and that’s it…woohoo!!

- That means that I’ll be working out, doing some reading, knitting/crocheting, maybe cooking/baking?!  AND… a little more blogging this week too!!  Just don’t get used to it ;) tehe

- My computer is still sick (wireless network card went caput) … the only time I can get on the internet is if I go out to the family room (opposite side of the house from my room) and plug it up with the blue cable… it’s so inconvenient and now I can’t multi-task by watching my shows and deleting them off of DVR at the same time I blog/do homework… so inconvenient! :-P

- This morning I woke up to temperatures in the teens with the windchill… that doesn’t seem right… where is spring?!  I remember it being in the low 80’s last year on spring break… crazy weather! Bring on the sunshine and warm weather!!!

- Ok, I think that’s it for me… no pictures in this post… sorry!  I’ll try to take more pictures! :)  BTW, did anyone get pranked yesterday for April Fool’s?  What happened?  Did you fall for the Bacon-flavored mouth wash?  totally disgusting! ;)

Blog Brain

You know… blogging is like running.  You’ve got to slowly build your way back up!

I’ve noticed that when I was really training for a race, say my first ever half marathon, I was really into blogging and would always have something to blog about.  Now I feel like I have a boring life and can’t think like a blogger… not to mention I really have no time to blog.  In fact, right now I am procrastinating some homework to write this… can we say senioritis?! sheesh!

Sidenote: the word “senioritis” is apparently in Windows Live Writer’s dictionary… who would have thunk!

I have a total of 47 days (if I’m counting correctly) or 6.65 weeks until I graduate with my ASL interpreting degree!  I remember when I was blogging about going back to school!! crazy times!  I’m freaking out a little bit about what to do about getting jobs, where exactly I would like to work, what field I would like to work in… that sort of thing.  I’m also freaking myself out a little bit about “if I’m ready to be a real-life interpreter” These 2 years and 2 quarters have absolutely flown by!!

In running news, I have successfully run at least 2 miles every week since the 2nd week of January (I was sick the first week).  Slowly but surely I am starting to get my fitness back… very slowly!!  Not to mention I have that same nagging knee pain I had last year right before the Cap City Half… I honestly do not know why it’s there or how to get rid of it… I’ve been trying some hip exercises to see if that would help, but not so much.  It’s quite annoying!

Anyways… I just wanted to catch you all up on my life and let you know that I probably will not be writing a whole lot (as you could tell already) as my graduation date (and therefore the busiest time of the school year for me) draws closer and closer! :)

I hope you all are doing well!  I miss reading your blogs!! Hopefully I can still visit from time to time :)  Have a great weekend everyone!

Edit after I got home from job#2:  This may just be more exciting than the buckle that EMZ got ;)  just sayin! tehe!

I'M OFFICIALLY GRADUATED!!!

I did it!! I turned in my last big internship paper today and now I am officially graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communications!! :D My plan is to go back to a different school in the spring to finish up my sign language interpreting degree which will take 2 years or less! I am so excited to move on to what I actually want to do with my life, but for now I am content with just relaxing, working, and enjoying my next 2 quarters off! :D This is a picture from the spring commencement that I got to walk in even though I wasn't going to graduate til this summer:

WOOHOO!! Anyways... on to my long run recap! I got all my stuff out the night before because yes, meeting someone at 7:45am is early for me, especially since I was up past midnight working on my paper!

Photobucket

And yes... that envelope is a race registration, thanks for asking! ;) I sent in my registration for the Sweetcorn Festival 5k today. The race is on September 4th at 9am... races always make me nervous, but a good nervous.

I woke up this morning at 6:30am and ate 1 1/2 pieces of peanut butter toast and got dressed and checked the weather.. 59 degrees?!! I wore long sleeves for the first time running today! It felt so nice though! I headed out the door around 7:30 and met Jess at her place at 7:45am... right on time! As soon as I walked in, she was beaming and told me she just got of the phone and got the job she's been wanting!! Congrats Jess!! God knew you are perfect for that job!! After saying congrats and smiling ALOT, we headed out the door and she asked me "do you want to do a flat course, or hills?" Well, not being one to back down from a challenge I said "hills for sure!" We started out at a nice crisp pace, I really didn't pay attention because I was having too much fun talking to her... she's such a lovely person!! We did about a mile and then comes the "hill" part... I'm telling you, this was not a hill, it was a mountain!!! seriously... it was the steepest, longest hill I have run to date!! I felt like walking or crying, or both! Jess just kept saying "you can do it!" "you're almost there" "its downhill once we reach the top" Thank you Jess for encouraging me because I'm pretty sure thats the only thing that got me up that crazy hill! lol Well, that and my legs were completely numb by the time we hit 1.4 miles of our 7 mile run!

Photobucket

After that our run felt really good... I felt like she was pushing me, and she felt like I was pushing her... and pretty soon we were back to where we started 7.03 miles and 1 hr and 9 minutes earlier! Let me tell you, I am so proud of that run!! Our average pace was 9:48 min/mile and it felt great!! Jess had to go to work, but I left with promises on both ends that we would definitely run together more often! We both had a blast! I headed over to the park to continue my run... I didn't really tighten up yet because its less than a minute from her house. I did a couple loops around the park for a total of 2.26 miles in an average pace of 10:37 min/mile which is still faster than i had expected!! TOTALLY AWESOME!! Today was one of those days where everything goes well and the run is fun and better than you had hoped and everything just clicks!!

Long Run Total: 9.29 miles (longest run to date)

Photobucket

I then went and stretched beside the pond and believe me, my legs were dead!! (still are) I finished stretching and headed to kroger on my way home to pick up some chocolate milk and ice and when I got home I had me one of these:

Photobucket

First one in about 1 1/2 years (since college basketball training) it felt so good to submerge my dead tired screaming legs into the frigid water!! Then after soaking a bit I got a shower and pulled on my Sigvaris recovery socks!! I love these socks!! Thanks to Erica at I Run Because I Can for having the giveaway that I won!! These socks ROCK!! **Review to come in the next week**

And yes, my dog likes the Sigvaris socks too! :D Speaking of giveaways there are quite a few going on out there right now... check out my sidebar!

Countdown til my first half marathon: 28 days 7 hours and some odd minutes and seconds... less than a month!!

What are some great recipes for runners? Carb loading recipes, pre race recipes, post race recipes... I'm wanting to try some new recipes out so if you have any good ones please share!
