1. Now that it’s September I can say “I’m running a marathon next month!” Wowsa! I’m freaking out a tad here but one thing I learned from The Cap City Half I ran in May was that not all races have to have time goals… If you run just for fun, you end up having a good time and sometimes, doing better than you thought you would… so I’m running my first FULL marathon for fun and my only goal is to finish those 26.2 miles! :)
2. Don’t forget to ENTER my giveaway if you want to have the chance to win a signed copy of Mark Remy’s second book called “The Runner’s Field Manual: A Tactical (and Practical) Survival Guide”
3. If you miss out on a run is it ok to do 2 runs the next day? (as long as they are lower in mileage?) What are your opinions? Have you ever done this? Like one in the morning and one at night?
4. I’m thinking about buying some nuun but I want to try it before I buy it… Have you guys tried it before? What did you think?
5. I found this cute little kitten under my deck last week and he was rather scared… I named him Baxter, but since hubster and I are living with my parents I couldn’t keep him and called a few shelters including the humane society… I was kind of mad when the guy on the other end of the line told me they aren’t taking cats right now and that I’d be better off putting him back where I found him. I told him I didn’t want him under our deck and he said to throw him in the woods or something… seriously?!
6. Tressa over at Training with a Track Coach & His Adorable Wife, commented on one of my blog posts that now that I don’t have a job, I’m not a bum, I’m just a Domestic Running Diva lol… I like that and I’m sticking with it!! :) Thanks Tressa!
7. It looks like I’ll be running on the treadmill today… it’s storming outside and I don’t feel like getting struck by lightening…
8. I found out that if I use Mozilla Firefox to read blogs, blogger doesn’t mess up as much and I can actually comment on blogs… who knew? Try it out if you’re having problems with blogger!!
9. Last but not least, I have my last 2 finals tonight and then I’m free for 2 weeks before I start fall quarter! lol… needless to say, I didn’t really get a summer vacation… guess I better go study…
How exciting that your marathon is right around the corner. As for Nuun, be careful if your stomach is sensitive because it contains sugar alcohols which can cause stomach pains. If you have to miss a run, you just miss it. I accept it and move on and don't try to compensate elsewhere because it disrupts things and you risk injury.
ReplyDeleteyay marathon!!! excited for you!
ReplyDeleteive never done two a days, but i know plenty of people do
i love nuun! try it!!!!!!!
my cat is named baxter too :) what a cutie!
good luck on your finals!
Good luck on your last two finals!! No getting struck by lightning:) MARATHON NEXT MONTH...wahoo, I am stoked for you gorgeous girl!
ReplyDeleteusually if i miss something, i just let it go. however, plenty of folks double up occasionally so i would think that is okay to do now and again
ReplyDeleteYay for Columbus! I ran it in 2009 and BQd there. The first half is awesome, the 2nd a tad dull but the crowd support in the final miles is great.
ReplyDeleteI hope Baxter finds a good home--poor kitty.
If i miss a run(rarely), then I just miss it. I have never missed a long run so I don't know what I would do about that but all the other ones, missing a run once in awhile is not a big deal in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI love Nuun (and not only because I got to spend the weekend with them...). I have a super sensitive stomach and it doesn't bother me at all. Now's definitely the time to try it out since you still have lots of training time left. They don't have carbs, though, so make sure you're fueling with gels/chews/etc.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! Good luck on those finals and then try to have some fun for those two weeks!
ReplyDeleteLove your new DRD title - fab!
ReplyDeleteI tried NUUN at the Chicago expo - HATE IT! The fruit punch and lemon tea were tolerable but the others - NO! PASS!
Poor kitty - how horrible of the humane society - not very humane of them!!!
Good luck on your finals.
If I miss a run I just adjust the schedule for the rest of the week and cut out a less important run and fit the others in - I don't double up - I heard it increases your risk of injury by a LOT - but you're a stronger runner than I am so . . who knows.
Your going to be a marathoner - woot woot!!!
I love Nuun! How exciting that your first full is coming up!!My first full is the weekend before yours!CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteBaxter is SO cute!! I hope you were able to keep him!!
ReplyDeleteYOU'RE BACK!!!! Hey!!! :) Congrats on getting married!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting it's almost marathon time!!!
Two-a-days can be great if you do them consistently, but I wouldn't use them to make up miles from a missed workout. :)
