My Thoughts on The Biggest Loser Finale

The-Biggest-Loser

I didn’t get to watch The Biggest Loser Finale live, so I DVR’d it and just got done watching it.

First of all… TUMI!!!  wowsa!! Doesn’t she look fabulous?!  I absolutely love the fact that she’s fallen in love with running and is aspiring to be a marathoner!!  I was so impressed by her!!

Honestly, I was impressed by ALL of the contestants and give them all kudos for working so hard at becoming fit and making healthy changes in their lives!!  It kind of saddens me that the success of ALL of the contestants on the show was so overshadowed by one person!

Don’t get me wrong… I absolutely ADORE Rachel!  She absolutely worked her butt off… literally… and did what it took by the show’s standards to WIN THE GAME!  Let’s face it.. The Biggest Loser is a GAME show! And although it tries to portray itself as a reality TV series, the reality in it all is that these people trying to lose weight and become healthy are forced to workout 24/7 and not eat or drink before the weigh ins.  They lose weight at such a rapid pace that it’s unrealistic and unhealthy by “normal” people standards!!

Rachel was my favorite to win, I’m not going to lie.  Every week she gave 100% and didn’t let trying to be liked by everyone by losing challenges on purpose, or negativity stop her!  I’m sure she will have the same attitude continuing her journey after the Biggest Loser Finale!!  I’m sure she will put some weight back on (they all do after the finale) and continue leading a healthy lifestyle at a healthy weight! She truly did look so happy during the finale and I hope she gets everything in life that she’s ever dreamed for!

Congrats Rachel for winning the quarter of a million dollars!  $250,000 is a lot of money and I’m sure I would’ve done whatever it took to win the game as well!!  Thanks for being motivating and inspiring to so many people and I hope all the hate and negativity you got after the finale doesn’t stop you from shining and being who you are!!

  1. I don't think I've ever watched the show, but I was disappointed with all of the negativity I read about the winner. I agree with you. I know she lost a lot of weight in a very short amount of time, but honestly, she doesn't look any different than some of the runners I see at races. So, I felt bad that after accomplishing such a big goal, she would be criticized for being too skinny.

    1. I know!! And she looked so happy!! I did feel bad for the other contestants too... that their success was drowned out by all the negativity that people had towards her.

  2. I totally agree with you! My post and thoughts were basically the same. I loved how good Tumi looked too! My favorites were David and Rachel. I was rooting for them both. I was scared for Rachel and pray that she finds a balance and gets to her healthy weight, whatever that is. It's different for everyone. Great post!

  3. This was the first season I'd ever watched the show. I also felt Rachel deserved to win, but I wasn't sure HOW she was going to, going up against David and Bobby there at the end, when they both still had weight left to lose and Rachel was pretty much at goal weight. I did a blog post of my thoughts yesterday (didn't everyone? *Ü*)

  5. I like how you put it. First Tumi looked awesome and I love that she fell in love withrunning too. And Rachel was my favorite this season too and I loved how hard she worked. Its too bad she had to kill herself in order to ensure a win, and I hope there arent any new extreme bad habits formed. I wasnt so much a hater as I was just a little sad on how she finished. But she won, good for her. Now she can be get back to being healthy.

    1. I completely agree with you Kiley!! It's sad that the show really is really just a huge game show... I know I would've done whatever it took to win!

  7. I haven't watched the Biggest Loser in years because it is a game show. At first I was fascinated by it and then I realized it gave everyone an unrealistic view of how to lose weight. I'm never going to be on a ranch with personal trainers 24/7 and a chef. Not going to happen. Or maybe....LOL!

  8. I'm just worried she lost soo much weight in such a short time that your body and mind didn't get a chance to adjust to the change properly. I hope she has a lot of support from her trainer long-term to avoid the jojo effect.

    1. I do to, Christine! It'd be awful if right after the show she was left to herself with no help or support from a trainer!!

  9. I also posted about this! I won't get into the nitty gritty but I hate that the show is all about drastic measures rather than teaching people the right way to nourish and treat their bodies.

    1. I read your post Kayla! I agree! It's so sad that they go on the show to gain a healthy lifestyle and lose weight and they come out of the show with such distorted images of how a healthy life should look like...
