Now onto the “Thursday Thoughts” portion of this post!  I’ve been thinking about a lot of things lately and don’t really have time to write about all my thoughts.  Of course, a majority of my thoughts are about running and blogging and everything else life has been throwing at me!

1.  I have been working extra hours the past couple weeks… 15/week to be exact and it leaves me with no time to do anything unless I stay up late.  Which I did on Monday.  4am late to be exact and mostly because I was too lazy to get up out of the recliner from watching tv with my dad to walk back to my bedroom to go to bed.  I can’t be the only one that does this right?!

2.  I’ve been feeling crappy lately.  I do believe it has to do with a lot more than just the late bedtimes.  It took me a week to get back to running after my half marathon… A WEEK!!  And still… I can probably count on one hand how many times I’ve been running since then!  It’s pathetic really.  It’s not that I don’t want to.  I really don’t like getting up early.. I’ve never made it a habit to because I didn’t have to.  My work schedule allowed me to run in the afternoons or evenings most of the time and now since I’m working more, the only times I have to run are early morning or late night… ugh!  So, that has a lot to do with why I’ve been feeling crappy PLUS I’ve been eating crappy too!  You are what you eat right?!  Ok, so I did have an excuse for last weekend because of the fair… but seriously… I  haven’t been eating any veggies or fruits and I’ve been eating on the go … ie: fast food!  GASP!!!  so… lack of sleep, lack of running/exercise, more hours of work, and a crappy diet have all come colliding down on me this week and I’ve felt like a bad human being lol…

3.  It’s not like I don’t have any motivation… ok, I don’t have any lol.  I do have a race on OCT 30th and my goal time for 5k is sub 25 right now and I really want it in my head lol… but I still don’t have any motivation… and its probably because of #2!  So I have decided to stop wallowing in my self proclaimed laziness and business and make some changes!

4.  Not only am I making healthy living changes, but I have thought a lot about changing around my blog.  First of all  I don’t believe in LUCK… I never have.  I believe that everything happens for a reason because God has a plan.  So… I have no idea why my blog is named “Runner’s Luck” other than it sounded cool and I had ZERO creative juices flowing the day I created my blog.  Also… I ran my half marathon on September 25th!  I think my blog needs a new tagline!  I also want to give my blog a little makeover starting with a cool picture header… except I have no idea how to do that … help?!  And maybe a new background?!  What do you all think?!  I would appreciate any opinions you guys have about changing anything on my blog or any help you can give me on creating a photo header!

So those are just A FEW thoughts I’ve had… I’ll save some of the others maybe for greater in-depth posts…  As always I love advice/opinions/comments from  you all! :D  I know a lot of you feel somewhat like I have after running a big race… I think making healthier choices will make a HUGE difference in the way I’m feeling though!  So starting tonight… I’m going to bed before midnight!! :D

  1. Yay! I can't wait to try the gels! Thanks!

#2 is so me... I have run twice since my marathon and I think that I've gained about 6 pounds in the last 4 weeks (since taper started). Time to get back on the bandwagon!

  2. You are 'Runners Luck' now. You have to have a better reason to change it, that 'I want to'... It's your brand! You picked it that day, so it must have meant something. I'll rationalize the name for you so you can feel better about keeping it.

"Luck is the result of 'Action Taken' when 'Opportunity Presented Itself'...

    Does that help?

  3. I just got the new issue of Women's Health and there is an entire article in there on 'Luck' and lucky people and how lucky people are only lucky because they try harder, take risks, etc. Check it out :) Maybe you can work with Runner's Luck! Happy Friday and congrats on 96 followers!

  4. I think we all go through that period after our big event where we lose motivation for running and eating healthy...it'll come back! With the blog, change it however will make you happy - it's your blog!

  5. even though it seems like there a lot of think contributing to feeling crappy i'm pretty sure that getting more sleep would solve most of the issue. when you sleep less you eat more (and i usually eat junk when i'm eating more), are less motivated and just sluggish in general. i know with a harder work schedule it seems like sleep is harder to get, but it will pay off huge!

  6. Congrats Alanna!!

Sorry you are so busy with work and not running as much as you want. You'll get back into it...I know it!

As for your header, if you go in to update it, there is a place for you to upload a picture. Then you'll have a picture header. There are other things you can do though. I'm not all creative and fancy, but I used a little program I know to do mine. That way I could put my name where I wanted it. The program I use can also put more than one picture. It's kind of like a scrapbook page. Let me know if you want to do it or I can help you do it or try and do it for you.

  8. Alanna - You are welcome! I got your email!

Neil - That actually does help... thanks! :D

Keri - I will definitely have to check out that issue!! Thanks for the heads up! Runner's Luck it is!! :)

Q - Sorry, but not this time... I thought about rigging it so that you won since you added me to your "Q Love" queue and all... but i couldn't bring myself to do it ;)

Rae - Thanks for the tip! Do you know what the program is called?

  9. Z…Your honesty is admirable. But at the same time it sucks.

  10. Recovery from a race takes time. Trust me, you'll wake up one morning with the itch to run soon enough.

  11. I think Barefoot Neil is on to something... I agree, I kind of identify you with that name... in fact, he might have just done your tagline for you with that quote!

  12. Z- I feel you! Plain and simple - I'm in the same "funk"! Working too much, making crappy food choices, find a lack of motivation to run (though you would think an airplane trip to FL for a half in a month would surely muster up a certain degree of motivation - nope).
I like the early comments from your fans about keeping luck, but do whatever makes you feel happy and gives you joy . . . it's your blog!
Hang in there girl! Cyber hug to you! Have a fantastic weekend.

  13. I gave my blog a completely new name, theme and make-over at the beginning of 2010 .... and it seemed to take on a new and improved life of its own! So I say if you want a big of change, go for it!

  14. I think that sometimes it's hard to stay motivated after finishing a big race that you've trained for for awhile. You do the race and then bam, you're done.
I think it's great that you have the 5k coming up! Use that race, and your goal of running sub 25min., to get back into the swing of things!

  15. I am so in your shoes right now. I feel a lack of moticvation....hoping it comes back soon:)

I am running on October 30th too! My race is a half marathon....I would rather be running a 5K:)

    Happy weekend!

  16. Don't be so hard on yourself regarding getting back into running. It took me a full two weeks before I felt good running again after my half.

I agree on the extra hours. I've been doing the same lately and staying up late. I hear ya!

As far as the name of your blog. Go for it. Change it up! I also do believe in God -- no luck in this life!

  17. Rest is so under-rated. Don't worry about motivation but listen to your body. Before you know it, you're be super-motivated to run again. You will kill the Grace Race 5K. Good luck next weekend!
