Ramblings and More Wedding Prep Memories

Somehow I managed to get today off… amazing! lol… especially since where I work kinda relies on nice, sunny, hot weather to be busy and its all of the above today lol… So my plans include running, blogging, possibly a little bit of xbox 360 kinnect, and laying out… ok fine, a little bit of laundry too lol ;)

Let’s talk running before I talk more about some of the wedding prep adventures…  So If you’re new to my blog, welcome!  (so close to 200!!)  Also, you might not know that I am registered for my first full marathon on October 16th… well, now you know! ;)

The problem is, as I said in my last post, my life is super incredibly busy right now so I feel like I am not going to be prepared for such a feat in 2 months… eek!!  My long run tomorrow will only be 8 miles lol… I may have to change my registration to the half… but I don’t want to until I know for sure or not if I will be ready for the full… but there’s a deadline to change your registration and you can only change it if the race is not sold out… what do you all think i should do??

Sidenote:  I figured out how to schedule posts!  Pretty cool!!  Now I’m gonna be a blogging machine! ;) haha… maybe lol

Anyways… on to some more Wedding prep memories! :)

I NEVER wear makeup NEVER unless it is a special occasion, which my wedding kind of was… so my cousin offered to do my makeup for me.  (Same cousin who threw me my bridal shower)  Naturally we had a makeup trial!! lol… here are some pics… we did one eye in browns and one eye in pinks and decided to go with the pinks for the big day :) (you can click the image to make it bigger)

Wedding Checklist: 4 Weeks To Go

Exactly 4 weeks!! (or 28 days!!!)

A couple people asked me what all I still had left to do and I figured that typing it all out would help me stay on task so here is my Wedding To Do List!!

Bleh!! lol… this seems like an awful lot of stuff to do still lol.. especially with final exams coming up!!  People have offered to help me make my favors so hopefully we can knock those out pretty quickly! :)  And I have no idea what I’m doing about the programs lol… and for some reason the cake decision is taking longer than it should…

Although that could be because I have no clue how many people are coming to the wedding… i sent out 100 invites and got only about 57 RSVP cards back lol… so now I have to follow up with everyone who didn’t respond because I’m not paying for 100 extra pieces of cake and 100 extra favors in case they decide to not respond and show up to the wedding after all lol… waste of time and money…

      - Breathe, say “I DO”, smile, and enjoy the day that I’ve been waiting for my entire life!!  :)

30 Days To Go! (and first wedding gift)

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!

S.E.R.I.O.U.S.L.Y

Josh and I only have 30 more days until we say “I DO” (and you better believe I will be saying those words with all caps!!  ;)   I LOVE that man with all my heart and truly believe that God put him in my life at the perfect time, right when I needed him…

We still have quite a few things left to do… a big one is the cake… (next on my to do list)

It’s tough trying to work 30-40 hour weeks, go to school, run/workout, and still try to plan a wedding! lol… good thing I never have to do this again!! ;)

I got home from work today and there was a gift sitting on the table for “Zaneta & New Husband” lol… from my great aunt and uncle who live in a different state and won’t be able to make it… it’s our first wedding gift!! :)

It Is Well With My Soul…

I’ve been really stressed out and moody lately, I’m not going to get into specifics… Just a lot going on!  It’s not like my life sucks, cuz it doesn’t… it’s all good things!  Wedding, Work (making money), going back to school, did i mention wedding stuff? (and all the fun little arguments that come with not pleasing everyone with your choices) lol… yeah, i seriously have a lot on my plate right now and it’s not doing me any good!

I stepped on the scale over the weekend… I’ve lost almost 10 pounds!  This isn’t good… I can’t really lose weight because I’m already almost too skinny… it starts messing with how things work…

**shield your eyes men, if you get grossed out**

I’m gonna get kinda personal… sorry…

My period was 7 days late this month… Not to mention that I’ve been miserable and cramping the past 3 weeks… stress and weight loss are not good on this body!  I went a whole summer without one when i was in high school and vowed I would never be that underweight again because I didn’t want to risk any health issues… and thank goodness I am not as skinny as i was back then… but I'm still not in the healthy range right now… so you guys need to hold me accountable.. i need to start eating better and gain the weight back!

Stress also wears you out emotionally… I know you all have experienced this at least at some point in your life…

Last night, after Josh helped me out with some wedding stuff, I lost it… I had been getting frustrated and just started crying… for no good reason.  It’s a good thing he understands me so well… he didn’t tell me to stop acting like a baby, didn’t ask me what was wrong… just gave me a hug and said “I know you have a lot going on right now… It’s all going to work out!  You’re strong Zaneta!  You’ll get through this!”

And he’s right…

Sunday before church I couldn’t stop worrying about things and thinking about everything and all of a sudden a song popped into my head…

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.

Refrain:
It is well with my soul,
it is well, it is well with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
let this blest assurance control,
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
and hath shed his own blood for my soul.
(Refrain)

I instantly stopped and thanked God that he was reminding me that he was in control and everything is going to be ok…  I serve an awesome God who cares about me!  It’s hard sometimes to completely trust God with things… but He really is in control!  That’s something I’ve been working on lately… just trusting Him and letting Him handle things the way He wants to handle them, not the way Zaneta wants to handle them…

I truly am so blessed!  I love my life and the people in my life!  It’s time to stop stressing out and start enjoying my life!  It’s supposed to be fun, not stressful!  Planning a wedding to the most wonderful guy, going back to school to get the career that I feel God has been planning for me to have and that I actually enjoy doing,  and in the mean time, having a job that doesn’t mind working around my school schedule, and not to mention I have an awesome family and parents who are letting us live with them after we get married… I just needed that little reminder…It is well with my soul!!

3 Months To Go!!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments you all left me on my cake post!!  It made my day!  I already have plans to bake an Easter cake… we’ll see tho ;)

Well, today marks the 3 month countdown… or if you prefer, 13 weeks…. OR 92 days ;) lol

Yesterday was 4 years since the fiancé asked me to be his girlfriend ;)  just thought I’d throw that in there lol… He’s something special that man of mine… something special indeed!  I don't want to get all sappy right now… I’ll save that till closer to the wedding ;)

This week I have worked on and almost completed our wedding website, made an attempt at making a registry since we won’t have our own house for a couple years (therefore, won’t be able to register for much), stayed up past my bed time making direction cards to send out with my invitations, and did my taxes and FAFSA today…. yes, I know that really doesn’t have anything to do with wedding stuff, but I'm pretty excited I got them done before April this year lol ;)  AND… this is the last time I get to file under “single”  pretty exciting eh? ;) haha!  ok, if you’re reading this post you’re probably 1) nodding your head or 2) rolling your eyes at me ;) lol… its ok, I don't need to know which ;)

****Insert random bit of info about Zaneta here****

Ever notice how i have a lot of winky faces throughout my blog posts?  Yes, I
know I do this a lot, but it’s probably because I can’t really wink in real life,
so I do it as much as possible in blog life ;) <—see? perfect wink ;) lol

*********************************************************

About the direction cards:  If you missed the post where I admitted I was a tightwad…. here it is again… I’m a tightwad!!  I don’t really like spending money… especially more than I have to.  I splurged on my invitations just because I liked them lol and then I saved a bunch of money by making postcards on vista print for my reply cards, and now I saved more money by making my own direction cards!  I was looking on a wedding invitation website to see about how much they cost and they wanted $1/card!  I needed 100 so I saved about $100!!

DSC01573b crossed out personal info… you can never be too safe on the internet ;)

I already had some card stock so I decided to print 4 to a page… I made them up in Microsoft Word… I put the directions on the front and a map on the back (had to print front and back manually, meaning i had to take it and turn it around and put it back in the printer) and then I cut them all out with scissors because I don't have a fancy paper cutting machine ;)  I ended up with 106 somehow lol… i few mistakes that didn’t make the final cut probably… it took me a couple hours, but it was worth it to save money!  I saved the perfected document so I could reprint some if I needed to.  If anyone needs help doing anything like this for their wedding or a party or something, just ask me and I’ll be happy to help! :)

100 DAYS TO GO!!

I only have 100 days left before I marry the man of my dreams!!!  This is HUGE!!!  I can’t believe it!  It’s crazy how fast time flies!  If you missed yesterday’s post, I listed other bloggers who are also getting married this year (or are engaged)  GO CHECK OUT THE POST!!  If you know of anyone that I don’t have listed please let me know so I can add them! :)

AND… THANK YOU FOR YOUR WEDDING PICS!!  I seriously NEED more people to send me their wedding pics, engagement pics, ring pics…  I got so excited when I opened my email and saw those pictures!  No, really… I don't think you understand how excited I was to get those!  KEEP THEM COMING!!  I’ll post them over the course of the next week or so, depending on how many I get :) Send them to runners.luck@hotmail.com

Today, I worked (bleh… rather be running in this great weather), then I picked up some wedding cake books from the library because I don’t have any clue if I want a round cake or a square one lol!  Come to think of it, you can send me pictures of your wedding cake too! ;)  Then, I dropped off my car at sears to get 4 brand spankin new tires and an oil change because I’m gonna be commuting back and forth 50 minutes both ways to get to school here in oh… 11 days!!  Wow!! I’m so excited to go back to school! :)

DSC01473

After that I picked up 22 round table cloths for my reception because I had a coupon, BUT I got a better coupon at checkout so I’m going to return them and buy them again to save money.  Does anyone else do this or am I seriously the only tightwad in blogland?!  And THEN… I registered for some items at one of our favorite stores… it was kinda hard to keep in mind that we aren’t going to have our own house and space after we’re married… so that made registering a little difficult. (If you want to read more background on our situation, CLICK HERE).   I did register for a nice video camera… only because if it’s left on our registry after the wedding, we get a discount on whatever’s left!

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen on a registry, or had on your own registry?

Don’t forget to enter my 100th Post giveaway… there will be 3 winners!
You have til tomorrow night to enter!

Happy St. Patty’s Day Everyone!!

Lazy Day

Well… Today was a lazy day as you can see… both the dog and I lounged around and napped all day long.

110220-143656

For some reason, I like to wear hoods if I’m in a sweatshirt, makes me more gangsta awesome than I already am I’m sure… I’m still feeling quite crappy, but I’m so excited because tomorrow my mom and I are going to the big city (anything is “the big city” if it’s 30 or more minutes away from where we live lol) to shop for veils and a dress for her to wear to my wedding… it should be loads of fun and I’m just positive that my germs will take a day off since it’s president’s day tomorrow!  To those of you that get the day off.. enjoy it! :)

Wedding Update: Invitations and Response Cards

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes!!  I’m still feeling a little under the weather and my throat is still sore, but I don’t have a fever or a gross cough or nausea or anything like that so its bearable :)  Even though I’m still not feeling up to par, I had to take advantage of the beautiful weather we were having yesterday! 65 degrees!!  This weekend is supposed to get cold again… yuck!  I’m so ready for spring/summer weather!

So, when I got off work. I changed clothes (I ran in a short sleeve shirt and capris!) and grabbed my Garmin and Road ID and off I went! It felt so good!  Can I just say I’ve missed running outside?!  I ran 4.03 miles with an average pace of 10:18 says my Garmin… I haven’t come up with a name for it yet… any thoughts?!

Today it was another beautiful day but I am just feeling awful still so I figured I would just stretch a little instead of run again and hopefully go to bed early!  I’m hoping to meet a dear friend of mine for a run in the morning! :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I GOT THEM!!! I GOT MY WEDDING INVITATIONS!!!  Oh I love them!!  It’s so exciting to see our names on them… it makes it 50 times more real than it already seemed… I’M GETTING MARRIED!!! tehe! ;)
I ordered our invitations from The American Wedding… they sent me a sample of a plain invitation and then I paid $20 bucks for an online proof of what they would look like before they printed them… I was just nervous I had made a mistake and didn’t want 100 invites going out with the wrong name or date/time on them!  lol… I got the proof in my email about 3 days after I ordered the invitations and then after I okayed the proof it took them less than a week to print them and get them to my front door!  Also that $20 I paid for a proof… they sent me an extra hard copy too! How considerate ;) lol… here they are!!
DSC01214
They will have a sheer white ribbon tied around the invitation in a bow between our initials and our names! :)  Then, I found a great deal on Vista Print for 100 free postcards… um, can we say yes please?!  Postcards are perfect… remember how I mentioned in this post that I’m a tightwad? lol… well, postcards save you money!  (just a tip for future brides out there)  1) You don’t have to buy envelopes so that people can mail it back, they just pop the postcard in the mail as is… and 2) Postcard stamps are quite a bit cheaper than regular stamps! :)  yay!!
So… I used one of the designs they already had on Vista Print (you can use your own design too if you’d like)  and I put in my own wording… moved the wording around to where I wanted it all to be and voila!  I only had to pay for shipping and handling, which was about 6 or 7 bucks!  Compared to what the industry wants you to pay for response cards… i saved anywhere from 30-100 bucks! GO VISTA PRINT!  How cute are they?  (i would show you a real picture but i can’t get the right lighting)
rsvp postcard showoff
So my colors are blue and green and my invitations are blue and my response postcards are green… who said everything from save the dates to invitations to response cards had to match?! lol… phooey!  I didn’t even send out save the dates… I figured our engagement was a short one and I made sure to tell all the important people to put the date on their calendars, so it’s all good in my book!  A lot of this “wedding etiquette” that I’ve been reading about is just silly… it’s YOUR wedding so do what YOU want!  (another tip for future brides) ;)  I’m full of good tips today lol ;)
What are some things you wish someone would have told you while
you were planning your wedding?
Wedding Update: Preview and Advice Needed!
Yesterday I got to go try on the sample of the dress I ordered with all the accessories I have so far… Tiara, earrings, necklace, bracelet, and shoes… can I just say I LOVE my dress even more now than I did when I bought it! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! :)  ok… so it’s killing me not being able to share my dress with you all, but I can show you a picture of my face since future hubby knows what jewelry I’ll be wearing since he bought them all for me at some point in our relationship :)  I did not buy that veil… once again it was put on for “affect”  I have yet to find my perfect veil… My mom and I have a shopping trip planned for next Monday!
   DSC01154 DSC01166
Now… I need EVERYONE’s advice!!!  After we get married, Josh and I will be living here, at my parents house for the next couple years until we both graduate from college… They’re letting us live here for basically free… this may sound weird to some people but it really means a lot to me… it’s their gift to us so that we can save up our money and go to school without wasting our money on an apartment…  BUT… here’s my question:
Since we aren’t moving out and getting a place of our own for another couple years… what should I put on my registry?  We’ve talked about it and have decided that it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to put appliances on there since there’s a good chance of them breaking in 2 years since all our stuff is going in the basement… We’d prefer help with a down payment for a house (cash) but I think it’s rude to tell people that on our “registry card”
Does anyone have any ideas on how to let people know we just really want to save up money? or if that’s completely rude, what I can register for?  Thanks guys!! :)
Wedding Update: My Dress!!
ok.. first things first, why didn’t anyone tell me I was getting ahead of myself on Tuesday?! lol… I titled my post “Triple Tangent Thursday” lol… well… today is Thursday.. bummer… but it’s almost the weekend!! :)  Also, welcome to my newest bloggy friend.. Angie from Kansas Runner!! Thanks for following! :)
Now.. on to the wedding stuff!!!  Pretend like it’s December 17th ;)  CUZ that’s when I bought my dress!!! :)
I’m not one of those girls who has known from an early age what kind of wedding dress I wanted or what kind of wedding… Dont get me wrong… I daydreamed about getting married one day, but I never planned the details of a future wedding….  Not to mention that I’m not a very girly girl… I’ll wear the occasional dress, but usually you’ll find me in jeans or running shorts and a tshirt lol…
So, my mom and I decided to start out looking in our little town (which has 2 places that might have wedding dresses… 1 for sure) before we headed to the big city.  Neither of us knew what to expect but were looking forward to the big adventure!
When we arrived, we had to sign in and they took us back to a little sitting area to ask questions like “what’s your budget?”  “What kind of a dress do you want?”  “Do you have anything specific in mind?”  I told them the budget that I definitely didn’t want to go over and other than that, that I had no clue what I was looking for… just that I didn’t want a ridiculously long train.
After that we went through and picked out different styles of dresses that I liked so I could try them on… we had all sorts of things like Ball gowns and A-lines and Mermaid dresses… who knew there would be so many to choose from? ;)  Well I tried on the first one and absolutely LOVED it!!  But, I had about 8 more dresses to try on.  Every time I tried on a different dress we would compare it to the first… if I liked it less we put it back, if we liked it about the same or more we kept it in the fitting room.
After a while I kind of forgot what the first one looked like on me and we were down to the last two dresses which were a different style than the first one all together and I liked them both. They were over my budget by $100-200 but I had told her that was ok, if it was the one for me I would pay the extra mulah!! :)  I really liked the last one the best but forgot what the first one looked like so I tried the first dress on again…
As soon as I put it back on I started tearing up… this was THE ONE!!  I didn’t want to take it off, I was so thrilled!!  I never knew what it would feel like finding “the dress” but it was magical!  It was incredible!  I just knew it was the one! haha.. my mom joked with me that she had been looking forward to going to more than just one dress shop… but since we were both shedding happy tears we knew there was no need to continue searching!
DSC00795This is the only picture I can show you because I have no clue if my fiancé
peeks at my blog every once in a while lol ;)  sneak peak!!!
After I committed to buying it they put a veil on my head and we took pictures and talked about wedding stuff… eventually they made me take it off ;) lol… I ordered my dress.. paid in full because if I did they would give me a discount… booyah!!   I was told it would be in towards the middle/end of May… hopefully I don’t need too many alterations!  I’m just so excited!!!  Now I just need to accessorize!! ;)
Triple Tangent Thursday
… or something like that…  Whoever came up with this please make yourself be known!  (rumor is it was hungry runner girl?) It’s great cuz now we can have three thing Thursday on Tuesday AND we wont be mocked because now it’s the cool thing to do ;)
1.  Now that I’m engaged I feel like I have to keep my nails painted… something about the ring… makes me want to dress up my finger nails.  It’s kind of like wearing makeup… if I put makeup on then I just HAVE to dress up because I usually don't wear makeup and its a special occasion when I do.  I don’t expect this to make sense to everyone… it is a tangent  afterall ;)
DSC01150 Shameless shot of the nails AND engagement ring… can’t stop looking at it to make sure I’m still not dreaming ;)
2.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE ice cream… I eat it about 6/7 days a week… that’s why I started working at a DQ when I was in high school… this is also why I can’t seem to part with said job… although I know that it would probably be best…  not just for grown up reasons but for my hips as well ;)  (just kidding… I can’t seem to gain weight)
2a.  I enjoy food… that being said, I have never tried to lose weight for the sake of losing weight.. So every time I go to the doctor it annoys me that they say I shouldn’t lose anymore weight… well doc, I can’t lose MORE weight if I haven’t lost any to begin with… actually I've gained about 15 pounds in the past 2 years… so take that!
3.  Last but not least, I LOVE when my blogging friends post vlogs!!  I think its fun to hear what their voice sounds like… it’s like we get to meet… kinda lol… is this making sense or am I just sounding like a creeper?  oh well… i think its fun!  I kinda want to do a couple vlogs… so if you have a topic or questions or anything that you would like me to talk about or answer I would love for you to leave a comment or shoot me an email… that way I wont feel like i’m just blubbering away aimlessly ;)
I hope everyone had a fabulous Tuesday!! I’m off to catch up
on the Bachelor via hulu before bed  ;)
Wedding Update: The Details
Spend, Spend, Spend… I have never spent so much money in my life (excluding school tuition) than I have on this wedding! lol… Now, that being said, let me introduce to you the side of me that I haven’t really discussed often on my blog:  Hello, my name is Zaneta and I am a tightwad!
There, I said it… I HATE spending money!  It’s not like I had a lot to begin with since I paid straight up cash for school … which I am proud of for not being in debt out of college, but it left me with a sad sad sad bank account lol.
I’ve been reading wedding planning websites and magazines because, let’s face it, I’ve never planned a wedding before lol… surprise! ;)  Most of them have said that the AVERAGE american wedding costs about $15,000 - $20,000… wowsa!  That’s a car!! OR a down payment for a house!!
To me, that is a lot of money for a wedding! I mean, I know it’s a special day, dont get me wrong!  I want my wedding to be gorgeous and a once in a lifetime event… but when it’s all said and done… it’s only 1 day!  I’d rather save as much money as possible… still have a gorgeous wedding… but still have money in my bank account so that in the near future me and my future hubby can have a down payment for a house.  I’ll share in a different post about some things that I’ve done to save some money … right now I just want to give you guys the overview of my wedding details!
I, Zaneta, am marrying my best friend, Joshuah,
whom I have known for almost 5 years and
have dated for almost 4 (come march 24th)
with a reception to follow
My colors are Blue and Green (duh)
My 2 sisters are both my Maids of Honor
His brother and my brother are both his Best Men
We have a cake lady, photographer, and a professional pianist booked
I’m still shopping around for a florist, but I know the flowers I want
Those are the basics… If I left anything out, or you’re curious about any of my planning, just leave me a comment, or email me! I love talking about it!!  :)  I’m so excited to be marrying my best friend, and the love of my life!!  I now have less than 5 months to go!! YAY!!
